ABOUT US<\/h1>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Shenandoah Tool Works is the collaboration of two Virginia woodworkers and carvers\u2014Jeff Fleisher and Norm Reid\u2014who saw the need for high quality woodworking tools at an affordable price.<\/p>\r\n

Our premium mallet heads are fabricated in a Vermont family-owned foundry. The handles are hand turned to our own specifications in our New Market and Delaplane workshops.\u00a0 We use only the highest quality figured domestic and exotic hardwoods.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Our new birdcage awl is fabricated totally in our home state of Virginia.\u00a0 The O1 steel shank is produced by a local blacksmith and the awl handles, like our mallet handles, are turned in our New Market and Delaplane workshops.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Norm Reid<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I enjoy both woodworking and woodturning in my shop in Delaplane, VA.\u00a0 I turn high-end pens using figured domestic and exotic hardwoods.\u00a0 As a recognized expert on old hand planes, I teach hand plane restoration and hand plane usage classes at two Virginia Woodcraft stores.\u00a0\u00a0 Starting this fall I will be co-teaching a series of classes on the use of hand tools in woodworking.<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Jeff Fleisher<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I have been working with wood — carving, furniture building and woodturning — for over 30 years.\u00a0 My\u00a0focus on woodcarving is a style called \u201cChip Carving\u201d which is a decorative style of carving.\u00a0\u00a0I incorporate my interests in these various mediums into my woodworking pieces.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

My work has been featured in the book,\u00a0The Art of Chip Carving<\/u>, by Wayne Barton, the leading chip carver in the\u00a0.\u00a0\u00a0I teach \u2018Fundamentals of Woodworking\u2019, \u2018Building a Shaker Table\u2019 and ‘Build a Period-style Keepsake Box’ classes at the Woodcraft store in Leesburg, VA and chip carving at the North Bennett Street School in Boston, MA.\u00a0 I\u00a0\u00a0am a former president of both the Northern Virginia Carvers and the Woodturners of the Virginias in Mt. Jackson, VA.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
